anti-social is the wrong word. i'm more socially anxious...or socially unsure. but this is more about social networking. i love facebook. but there's plenty of things i can't stand about it. not the site itself, but it's users. they're more like abusers. or just plain annoying. just look at your inbox to see who wants you to be a vampire or harvest crops with them (i admittedly play farmville, but i never send invitations to people).
what really gets me though is the 'like' monster. i've all but given up posting anything but generic statuses because of it. the last time i posted something about my own life, i got a bunch of people liking the status. yeah, you heard me, i'm complaining because people 'like' my status. whatt bothers me is when it's someone i was once close with. that's what our friendship has evolved into? you can go months, or longer, without talking to me, but because you like a status, we're cool? with going to school full time and working the other times, i'm busy too. i still try and keep and touch with whoever wants to. so now i have taken to writing generic comments, or quotes from movies that are just plain fun. i mean, it seems that the least thought out status (ie...i love unicorns and stickers!!) are the ones that get 100+ comments. if nothing else, i saved the energy of the 'like-clicking-finger' of my associates by not writing a status like "after a year of unemployment, i finally got a job!'. you know who likes that? me...and i don't need to click a button to show it.
facebook, i love you, but you've bastardized the meaning of friendship.
so this post is probably a more philosophy based one. honestly, the whole health care situation going on now is boggling my mind, and if i'm going to be confused, i'm going to confuse myself ("oprah calls that empowerment"-lewis black) anyway, if you're a stranger to me, i love the show lost. to me, that show is all about choices. that's why i like it so much. the characters are never presented with a situation in which they say 'this is clearly the right thing to do'. the lost-universe is never black or white...it's almost entirely gray. just like in real life...only we generally don't worry about smoke monsters, time travel, or random polar bears. but how many times in our own lives have we ever been 100% certain of anything? not many. and now with this whole "flash sideways" thing happening, viewers are seeing how different lives would be based on one incident. one thought. one action. one decision. how different would my life be if i took that job in kentucky instead of the one in pennsylvania? where would i be if i wore that red shirt instead of the black one?
this gets me to what i consider to be the biggest decision of my life. getting my m.a. in theatre management or getting my a.a.s. in veterinary technology. by all means, going for grad school seemed like the 'safe' decision. going into a vet tech program based solely on science (science and i have not always gotten along so well) was a risky decision. i'm sure that by reading my profile, most of you have correctly deduced that i went the way of the a.a.s. i'm always thinking of what life would be like had i gone the other way. would i be as happy? would i be as successful? would the people i know now be in my life in a different role? (for example, one of my teachers is also going for her master's at the same university i was accepted to...would i have met her in the library or something?). it's a very abstract thought process, but think of the most important decision in your life, and imagine what life might have been like if you chose the other way. as for me, as interesting as my alternate universe might be to imagine, i'm glad i didn't take the clear-cut path. or did i?

i never, nor will i ever, describe myself as a blogger. by all accounts, i flat out suck at this. i'm not reviewing products, debating political ideals, or doing anything remotely of interest to mankind. i come on here to bitch about things, plain and simple. it's all i know. i've been assured that my random squabblings about life and all the people in it can be somewhat amusing. and that is what i'm here to do...complain, and be entertaining. but now, since i have your attention, i'm going to talk about me.
i was born and raised in new jersey, but i am not italian, orange, or stupid. i'm actually quite smart, i just haven't applied myself for 24 years. i went to a small university in the middle of pennsylvania and got a degree in theatre and a minor in philosophy. i was accepted into a great graduate program for theatre management, but essentially said 'fuck it' and choose to go a different route. i'm now a student at a local community college working on a degree in veterinary technology. i'm a real testament to how quickly life can change. looking onward to the future, i want to teach college students in a program similar to the one i'm in now. future generations can thank my current awesome professors for inspiring me.
i'm very immature, but entirely serious at the same time. i like to let my inner child run the show sometimes. and let's face it, you're never too old to enjoy a swing-set in the park. i feel any more information would just be silly, but i'd be glad to field your questions if you'd like
